In the U.S., any loss after 20 weeks is usually considered a stillbirth) (In Anderson’s study, stillbirth was defined as a loss after 28 weeks. What did she find? Miscarriage risk rises sharply during a woman’s late 30s and reached nearly 100% by age 45. Anderson tracked every “reproductive outcome”– every pregnancy, miscarriage, birth, stillbirth, or abortion–in Denmark between the years of 19–ultimately tracking outcomes of over a million pregnancies. Risk of Miscarriage by the Woman’s AgeĪnne-Marie Nybo Anderson, of the Danish Epidemiology Science Centre led the largest population-based study ever conducted on age and miscarriage. The man’s age matters too, especially after they turn 40. The most important risk factor, as is well known, is the woman’s age: Miscarriage rates climb as women age, especially after the late 30s. Your personal characteristics and behaviors alter your miscarriage risk. Rates hovered around 2% per week until week 13, when chances of a miscarriage dipped below 1% Their rate of miscarriage was 4-5% in week 6. In a large prospective study of 4,887 women trying to conceive, 4070 became pregnant. What are their chances of a miscarriage before that crucial piece of news? Many women will not have an ultrasound and fetal heartbeat confirmation until sometime between 8-10 weeks. Miscarriage Risk by Week Before Confirmation of a Heartbeat Up to 6 weeks 2 days gestation: Chance of miscarriage by fetal heart rate up to 6 weeks 2 days of gestation.īetween 6 weeks 3 days and 7 weeks 0 days: Chance of miscarriage by fetal heart rate at 7 weeks gestationĪfter 7 weeks, the fetal heart rate was at or above 120 beats per minute for almost all ongoing pregnancies. (Normal fetal heart rates change with fetal age, so these tables break down the risk by pregnancy week.) The lower the heart rate, the higher the miscarriage risk. The chance of a first trimester miscarriage varies by fetal heart rate, according to a study of 809 pregnancies. But a fetal heart rate that is too slow can instead signal an impending miscarriage. Miscarriage Risk by Fetal Heart RateĪ fetal heartbeat often indicates a healthy, viable pregnancy. Women who entered the study later, and who therefore had a normal ultrasound and heartbeat at 7-10 weeks, had a risk under 10%. Women who entered the study in their 4th to 5th week of pregnancy had about a 35% risk of miscarriage. Chance of miscarriage by 12 weeks but after confirmation of a fetal heart rate by the mother’s age.ĭespite the higher risk for this age group overall, a normal ultrasound result from 7 weeks remains a promising sign. Miscarriages rates declined between 6 to 10 weeks, according to a study of 697 pregnancies with a confirmed fetal heartbeat:Ī similar study of 668 pregnancies with a confirmed fetal heartbeat between 6 and 10 weeks, found a similar decline in miscarriage risk by week:īut for women in their mid to late 30s and early 40s, these studies understate the risk. E ven after confirmation of a fetal heartbeat, miscarriage risk remains high for women 40 and older through 12 weeks, according to a study of 384 women 35 and older. Fortunately, for most women by 14 weeks their chance of a miscarriage is less than 1%. The risk is highest early in the first trimester. Miscarriage risk drops as pregnancy progresses. Where possible, I break down the risk by…Įdit: I also have a new post on how morning sickness signals a lower risk. So I have compiled a summary of the best research on risk of miscarriage. The lack of good information frustrated me when I was pregnant, and I bet it frustrates you too. Problem 3: Nearly all these sites derive their statistics from just two small studies, one which tracked 222 women from conception through just the first 6 weeks of pregnancy, and another which tracked 697 pregnancies, but only after a fetal heartbeat had been detected–a key point, because heartbeat detection dramatically lowers the chances of a miscarriage. Problem 2: These sites do not breakdown miscarriage risk by other known risk factors, like the mother’s age. Problem 1: These sites rarely provide their sources, so you cannot tell whether their information is reliable. Many websites claim to tell you your risk of miscarriage, citing statistics that look like these : Commonly reported chances of miscarriage by pregnancy week Trying to figure out your chances of miscarrying? Sadly, you are going to have a hard time finding good information.

On the other hand, his action scenes are quite strong. You’ve heard the phrase, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” but that’s only if the picture adequately captures a moment. One of the best ways to do this is through facial expressions. An artist typically finds a way to enhance the story, or tell their own story, with their art. I find every other aspect of his art incredibly enjoyable, but his faces really bother me. Overall, this is one of the better books I’m covering this week, and the set-up that takes place in this issue has me greatly looking forward to what’s awaiting us over the next five months!Īrt: I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t excited to see Bogdanovic as the artist when DC officially announced this … and it’s because of one thing: how he draws faces. With that criticism noted, I’d hardly consider this book bad. The climax of the book is fun and entertaining, but again suffers from predictability. As you know, character development is the best way to win me over, so I’ll take these moments and details any day. Typically team books tend to feature their characters evenly at the expense of solid character development. This is where having a book focus on a specific character from the Squad succeeds. The situation weighs on him as he heads into the mission, a detail that provides an added realism to Deadshot’s mission. It’s unclear at first exactly what’s going on, or who it pertains to, but the general idea is easy to put together. Within all of this, a sub-plot emerges as a Deadshot deals with a personal issue. There is an occasional laugh to be found in the confrontation, but overall, I wish it would have been toned down by a notch or two… or four. I tend to hate arrogance in general, and my opinion is consistent, even with fictional characters (however, Damian and Midnighter get a pass). The back and forth macho fest about who was better or more capable was pretty annoying. This is honestly my least favorite portion of the book. A fellow sniper, Rookie is basically introduced to set up conflict between the two, or “competition” as Waller called it. Will apparently doesn’t have a code name, so I’m going to refer to him as Deadshot endearingly does: Rookie. Except this time he’ll have back-up, and the plan is a little different.īuccellato introduces a new character, Will Evans. Three months later, and Deadshot is back to collect the same man. It was strictly a round-up mission as far as LaPaz was concerned – the other men were fair game to be on the receiving end of bullets – but Waller was never able to capture LaPaz. Deadshot was sent to South America to stop the head of the local cartel, Guillermo “Che” LaPaz. The catalyst for Deadshot’s narrative stems from a solo mission he executed for Waller in the past. Disregarding the predictability, I can’t fault Buccellato, because it’s honestly the best way to introduce the Lawton as a character, while also setting the tone for the book. If you’re going to write a book about Deadshot, there’s bound to be an internal monologue about his views on killing. The opening scene is solid, albeit a little expected. That gives Buccellato the opportunity to provide a nice texture to the character, and it’s something he jumps on immediately. Deadshot is an edgier character, he kills people for a living, but doesn’t allow himself to get consumed by the darkness of what he does. He’s a great character, and deserves every bit of attention that DC throws his way.īuccellato ( Detective Comics, Injustice Gods Among Us) is covering writing duties for this story, so I have an adequately high expectation. Because of that, I’m glad that Deadshot receives a spotlight every couple of years. Yes, Harley is now part of the team and is easily a bigger brand than Deadshot, but I can imagine a Squad without Harely, while it’s difficult for me to imagine one without Lawton. I’ll score each issue individually, but finish up with a total score averaging the scores from both stories.ĭeadshot has basically been the foundation of the Suicide Squad for years. There’s a part of me that really wanted to write a separate review for each story (as in two separate posts), but if you plan on buying the monthly issues, then you’re stuck with both stories… So you’re getting two reviews in on post. And the following cafes, found in Fort Lauderdale, FL prove they’ve got what it takes to satisfy all of your tastes. Not only are they selling some fantastic coffee, but they’re also crafting a stellar ambiance in every detail of their store: from the chairs (or couches!) filling the floor space to the artwork on the walls and the even greater artwork of the entire building’s design (hello new Instagram pic!). But, there were a couple things I didn’t get the hang of. I even got the hang of melting enemies with Zarya while using this mouse. I didn’t struggle to track targets and unload clips as Soldier 76 during my competitive placements, and I never struggled with my frantic flick shots to keep my teammates alive during playtime as Ana. From the SteelSeries Rival 350 or Razer Basilisk Ultimate to budget options like this one or the Cooler Master MasterMouse MM520, the kind of sensors found in many gaming mice are proving themselves perfectly dependable. It tracks as consistently as any other mouse I’ve used. The sensor in the G203 LightSync performs admirably. I brought it on two season’s worth of Overwatch competitive placement matches, and considerably more gametime outside of that. GamingThe Logitech G203 LightSync is no slouch when it comes to gaming, but that’s not to say it’s perfect either. Logitech’s software is fairly comprehensive, but there’s only so much you can customize on this mouse due to its basic features. That will give you custom profiles, with the option to change the DPI, button assignments, polling rate, and lighting. SoftwareThe G203 LightSync is customizable using Logitech’s G Hub software. It also meets that 1000Hz polling rate so pivotal for gaming mice. The G203 LightSync sports a new Logitech sensor that offers a DPI range from 200 up to 8000, giving you plenty of flexibility. I still find that soft, almost pastel, glow quite engrossing, but users who want exact customization may be disappointed. Trying to go with purple, red, and light blue, the red in the middle became more of a pink. Using the three zone lighting, whichever color sits in the middle of the strip is affected by the colors on its flank. It looks satisfying, but it’s not precise. Essentially, there’s a single band around the back edge of the mouse that contains all three assignable zones blended together, and then the Logitech logo in the middle of the palm also lets the colors shine through. It offers three controlled zones, though it's more like two distinctly lit elements. Logitch does add some style with RGB lighting though. The mouse is made out of plastic, most of which has a matte finish, and that’s pretty much it. You get two well-sized thumb buttons on the left (sorry, left-handed gamers), two detached buttons for the left and right click, as well as a clickable scroll wheel and a DPI cycle button. It’s almost unchanged from the Logitech G203 Prodigy that came before it. The design is fairly basic, with a symmetrical shape and your standard buttons. That gives it a somewhat insubstantial feel in the hand that some gamers may like for the ease of moving it around, but it’ll be cramped for bigger hands regardless of grip style. At just 2.45-inches wide and 1.5-inches long, it’s got a small profile akin to the SteelSeries Sensei Ten, and it stays light at 85 grams. However, in some games where large, fast movements were necessary, it must be said that the G203’s sensor struggled slightly, showing up visible ghosting that would undoubtedly be a disadvantage in esports matches or serious competitive matches.Design and FeaturesThe Logitech G203 LightSync is a small, wired mouse. It tracked well in a range of games, from first-person shooters to RPGs. On the whole, though, the G203’s sensor proved responsive and dependable. That’s about where performance lies too, which is to say, it’s decent, but not perfect. This puts it just below near rivals the Razer Viper Mini and SteelSeries Rival 3. Categorizing the G203’s 8,000 DPI sensor on this scale, it sits up from the bottom but still towards the lower end. Logitech G203 LightSync: Performanceīudget gaming mice can vary considerably when it comes to their sensors, with resolutions ranging anywhere from 1,200 up to 24,000 DPI. While it would have been nice to have independent control of the logo, there’s still plenty of customization available to keep you busy for a long while. Regrettably, though, Logitech hasn’t made the RGB logo on the mouse’s top one of configurable zones, so it just displays a fusion of colors from your other color selections. You can also change the brightness and set various lighting effects and animations. The Logitech G203 LightSync’s three RGB ligting zones can be personalized in the G Hub app. Pros and Cons Handsome exteriorElegant interiorExtremely comfortable rideLots of standard safety and luxury featuresEfficient powertrain Rivals offer more power at similar pricesSome cheap interior materialsAvailable packages are expensiveīest Deals on 2022 Lincoln Corsair Hybrid 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring Plug-In Hybrid $61,023 3,623 miles Fair Deal Average price See All Corsair Hybrid For SaleĢ022 Lincoln Corsair Hybrid Trims See trim levels and configurations: Trim Engine Transmission Drivetrain Price (MSRP) Grand Touring Plug-In Hybrid 2.5L Inline-4 Plug-in Hybrid Continuously Variable Automatic (CVT) All-Wheel Drive $51,810 Three existing colors - Iced Mocha, Burgundy Velvet, and Artisan Blue - are being retired. This is the new normal: 97% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses, and one in eight search online for a nearby business every single day. When you’re looking to try a new restaurant or find a mechanic, what do you do? You might get a recommendation from friends or family, but you probably also do a “ near me ” search on Yelp, Google or OpenTable. That’s an invaluable opportunity for small businesses with tight - or non-existent - marketing budgets. If traditional advertising is a megaphone that enables businesses to shout and see who’s listening, review sites are tractor beams that pull consumers toward local businesses precisely when they’re actively looking to spend money. When a consumer uses a review platform like Yelp or Google My Business, the decision and urgency to buy are exactly what prompted the person’s search. If you buy a radio ad, for example, the message has to do two hard jobs: Convince the customer to spend money with you and create urgency to do it now, before distractions take over. In the past, small businesses had to rely on inefficient “push” methods to attract new customers. Online Review Sites Are A Tractor Beam For Customers The days of window shopping and scanning the Yellow Pages are over. About 90% of global sales still happen in physical stores, but 97% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses and three in four people who use their smartphones to search for something nearby end up visiting a local business within a day. This dramatic shift in technology adoption has led to similarly dramatic shifts in consumer behavior. Everyone has the internet in their pocket all the time, and this changes everything for small businesses. has doubled since 2001 to nearly 300 million users, and smartphone penetration has risen from 20% in 2010 to 69% in 2017 among American consumers.
